Testimonial from Kesang

“I have observed tremendous improvement in my father after he started attending the CST sessions. I sat in for a few sessions and was able to observe the wonderful facilitation in which each member of the group is drawn into the activity and made to feel important. I could see this gives them a sense of self-worth which is not easy to give in the home environment. I found my father looking forward to the sessions and engaging more with everything around him. As one of the activities was discussing a news article he started taking some interest in the newspaper which he had stopped reading. Especially on the day of the session !! The facilitator was able to pick out his interests ( in his case poetry) and ask him to share some poems in the group. He has been much more engaged with everything around him and managing better. The suggestions of the facilitators regarding using a whiteboard to keep the date, day and programme for the day have also helped. I wish every person in this condition had access to such a programme.”

” ‘SCARF’ is the place where my husband P. Ramakrishnan is taking treatment for ‘Dementia’ from January 2015. Dr Sridhar Vaitheswaran and his team are taking care of my husband with a lot of warmth. My husband is attending the ‘Centre for Active Ageing’ once a week regularly. Here, elderly people will come together, chat, exchange ideas and views about current affairs and some interesting things that are happening in their lives. There is some time allotted for doing craftwork, playing Carrom-board, chess and also drawing. So my husband is given consistent care during our visits and we are guided to cope with any sudden, unexpected things that happen because of dementia. My husband is receiving good care and attention and I am given confidence and support by the team. I feel a sense of safety and security on the days I visit ‘SCARF’. Thank you”
