Every 2 months, DEMCARES hosts an ‘Understanding Dementia’ Session for newly diagnosed clients with dementia from our clinic. The session focusses on improving the caregiver’s basic knowledge about the illness and it’s progression to make informed decisions about their loved one’s care and their future. The sessions is usually conducted by Dr. Sridhar Vaitheswaran (MD, MRCPsychConsultant Psychiatrist &Coordinator of DEMCARES). The sessions also allow for caregivers to have a forum to ask questions about the illness to the team. Please check our events calendar for the next ‘Understanding Dementia’ session. Caregiver Training
DEMCARES conducta caregiver training sessions every alternate Saturday from 2.30-4.00 pm. Caregiver training focuses on providing caregivers with practical knowledge on specialised topics in dementia care to enable them to better care for their loved ones.

Caregiver Support Group
Dementia care in SCARF began a caregiver support group in 2015. It is attended mainly by caregivers and family members from our DEMCARES OP but is open to the public. Caregivers provide eachother emotional support through experience sharing. The support group also invites external resource person’s for informative and knowledge sharing sessions on specific topics in dementia care. The group runs on alternate 4th Saturday of every month from 2.30-4.00pm at the Schizophrania Research Foundation. Please check our calender for the next support group meeting
